Skill At Arms
Syllabus
Cadets progress from grouping proficiency through application practices to competition shooting.   Cadets train on the Air Rifle and .22 Rifle, the Cadet General Purpose (GP) Rifle and the Light Support Weapon (LSW).
Safety
  • Cadets are NOT to fire a weapon unless they have passed the Skill at Arms test for that weapon.
  • To fire full bore, cadets must either have passed APC 1-Star in all subjects or be over 14 years of age.
  • When cadets under the age of 14 years are firing, supervision must be by an adult aged 21 or over.
  • Dispensations
  • Where a cadet may be physically or temperamentally unable to fire the larger weapons, or where there are difficulties with access to the ranges, cadets may be permitted to qualify at 2-Star on the Air Rifle or .22 Rifle Application Courses and at 3-Star by achieving an improved score on these weapons or the Cadet GP Rifle.
  • Complete or partial dispensation may be given from LSW training and firing all types of weapons by local formation commanders when circumstances so demand eg; problems of security of arms.
  • Targets
The Cadet and Schools L98A1 Cadet GP Rifle Grouping/Zeroing Target (25m) is unique to the Cadet Movement.
