B (Anzio) Company Training Weekend

Sat/Sun 5/6 Jun 10

Cadets from B (Anzio) Company were put through a series of demanding challenges over the Challenge Weekend.   The activities, to promote teamwork and cooperation, were conducted across a wide area requiring the teams to navigate between stands.   The weather provided an additional challenging factor as the weekend was hot and humid, requiring cadets to draw on additional reserves of motivation and energy to see the course through.

Tasks included Chasm Crossing, Spiders Web, Rope Handcuffs, Observation and Skill at Arms.   This was followed in the evening with a number of team games.   Throughout the day teams were marked on their performance with points being allocated to how individual tasks were accomplished.   Points were added together to produce an overall result.   The reward for achieving the required total was a can of soft drink and chocolate for each cadet.

The day finished with cadets taking part in a series of games before settling down for the night in their tents.

The following day the challenge continued with a series of command tasks before the final challenge of the stretcher race.   Teams negotiated a course of obstacles while keeping a football on a stretcher.   This was not as easy as it sounds as each team had the additional problem of one on the stretcher party being blindfold.

The weekend finished with a tug o war intended to sap remaining energy left after the weekend’s activities.   This was a tough weekend both physically and mentally, all our cadets proved themselves up to the challenges with great determination and cheerfulness.

A tired but cheerful company of cadets were returned to their homes each looking forward to our Annual Camp in August.
