A (Ferozeshah) Company - Fundraising Success

Sun 26 Apr 09

On 26th April 2009, 10 cadets and two instructors from Chippenham Detachment, A (Ferozeshah) Company took part in the 6th Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal Trust sponsored walk.   The team were joined by WO2 Phil Jones of 47 Air Dispatch and Flt Sgt Mick Hill from RAF Lyneham.   The cadets were walking to raise funds for the ‘Help for Heroes’ and the Canal Trust.

The cadets walked from the Buttercross in Chippenham to Reybridge and back in glorious sunshine. On route they enjoyed talks from the trust members at various sites of interest and lunch at the Bell Inn ... although Cdt Scott Spavins (pictured below) chose cold ‘rat pack’ in preference to hot pub grub!   During the event the cadets offered to carry a canoe all the way back for one trust member who had realised that he had taken on a little too much.

After the event, L/Cpl David Elliott (pictured below) collected a plaque from the Mayor of Chippenham to commemorate the walk.   All in all a great day, nothing too strenuous and very few blisters ... and lots of money was raised for two very good causes.
