Rifles Cup - Regional Winners Bulford - 27-28 Sep 08 The Rifles Cup is a Military Skills based competition. Teams take part in various stands: Vehicle Manoeuvring; Admin in the Field, Sniper Stalk, AFV Recognition, First Aid, Section Attack, A Military History Presentation and many others. The competition is open nationally to all cadet forces affiliated to The Rifles. This year's competition was held at Kiwi Barracks, Bulford, hosted by 4th Bn The Rifles. On Friday evening, 17 Teams from all over the country arrived at the camp and set up harbour areas in and around Bulford Camp. Cadets from C (Arakan) Company's Old Sarum and Downton Detachments were selected to represent Wiltshire Army Cadets. A more detailed report by Cdt Cpl Ed Quinlan can be read here: Report. The team members were: Front Row: Cadet CSM Mathew Mercer, Sgt Luca Castelli, Cpl Lucy Stebbings, Cpl Heather Brickell, Back Row: Cpl Ed Quinlan, Cpl Paddy Dunford, Cpl Jordan Wheeler, Cpl Ed Wensley, Cpl Ellis Capon (on loan from B (Anzio) Company) and LCpl Rob Foggerty. The Adult instructors were SMI Amy Pullen (Trowbridge Detachment Commander) and Cpl Gary Richards (a serving soldier and assistant instructor in Warminster Detachment. After what was a very hurried and busy training programme the team excelled, decisively winning the Regional Cup and being National runners up the margin was just 60 points. There was also Individual success with Cpl Ed Quinlan winning best regional cadet and Cpl Lucy Stebbings winning best regional cadet endeavour. Each received a book on The Rifles' history. All are looking forward to defending the Trophy next year.
