A team of Wiltshire army cadets successfully completed Pewsey’s relay for life over the weekend along with other teams helping to raise money for Cancer research UK. The cadets from Ferozeshah (A) Company completed the relay which ran between 1200 midday on Saturday until 1200 midday on Sunday. At least three cadets were walking at any one time, including the early hours of Sunday morning. Everyone involved in the event participated in a candlelit vigil at 10:00pm on the Saturday night, where pipe music played as walkers conducted a silent lap of the track to remember loved ones. The silent lap was lead by the organising committee and survivors. Many other events were held during the weekend including; the cadet force rock wall, live music, choirs and Pewsey’s very own talent competition for children and adults. It is hoped that through the cadet’s online website and other donations, Ferozeshah Company aim to raise £500 for Cancer Research UK. Major Peter White (OC Ferozeshah (A) Company, Wiltshire ACF) said, “It was an honour to be part of such a worth while event. The cadets absolutely loved the challenging weekend and we were all made to feel so welcome. The community spirit we experienced was something that we all will never forget………all in aid of such an important cause. A big thank you must go to the organisers and everyone who took part in this memorable occasion. ”
